I’m Mira Martínez, a community midwife, traditional herbalist, and ancestral bodyworker who has had a long, varied career centered around caring for children and their parents. After working as a travel nanny and Montessori educator for nearly a decade and observing how little autonomy and genuine care was given to the women I worked with during pregnancy, birth, and beyond, my journey to midwifery began. Since 2017 I have been engrossed in the world of birth and postpartum, working as a full-spectrum doula, childbirth educator, newborn care specialist, placenta encapsulator, and now as a Certified Professional Midwife. My midwifery training included a didactic program coupled with thorough apprenticeships under a variety of providers, from traditional Nahua and Ndé parteras to licensed and certified nurse-midwives, leading to a well-rounded education that encompasses holistic ancestral care and fine-tuned emergency skills.

As a Xicana-Indígena it is crucial for me to imbue my services with the wisdom of my ancestors. Deep connection to the land, plant medicine, and ceremonies such as Closing of the Bones and the observation of La Cuarentena are just some of the ways in which I bring forth long-held knowledge and tradition to modern-day pregnancy, birth, and postpartum care. Combining the ancient art of midwifery with evidence-based information ensures that you will be given the full picture when it comes to your prenatal and birth options, so you can make truly informed choices.

In my personal time I enjoy film photography, tending to my medicinal garden, hanging out with my senior dog (Mr. Bingley), finding the best hiking trails in any given area, and planning my next big adventure.
